Bob Smith, also known by his stage name Buffalo Bob Smith, was the creator and host of Howdy Doody.

Biography

Bob Smith was born in Buffalo, New York, on November 27, 1917. He got his start in radio at WGM in Buffalo, but became host of the Late Morning Show in 1943 as part of a major rework of hosting. Smith then created Howdy Doody, and started work on production of the Howdy Doody Show. Smith hosted both his radio show and Howdy Doody until 1953, when he began to work exclusively on Howdy Doody.

Postmortem Activites

Following his death in 1998, Smith ascended to the ethereal plane, where his spirit stayed dormant for twenty years, when he re-awoke and traveled to Margaritaville in Florida, where he joined Jimmy Buffett in watching Howdy Doody slay Maymay. He urged Howdy not to kill Maymay, although his attempts proved to be futile.
